The Razer Kraken V3 is an attempt by Razer to balance a price point that is just under $100 and a wide range of capabilities that allow you to personalize your gaming experience. There are no longer any gimmicky surround sound capabilities, and it offers all the necessities of a decent gaming headset, including a comfortable design and excellent sound quality. We’ve also seen comparable headsets that have had THX 7.1 Spatial Audio.
Is the Razer Kraken V3 for you?
- The Kraken V3 is primarily aimed at PC gamers that use Windows 10 since their software capabilities are available on that platform.
- The USB-A cable connection allows users of PlayStation and Nintendo Switch systems (when docked) to utilize the headset.
How does the Razer Kraken V3 compare to the previous version?
The headset is a pleasure to wear and a breeze to navigate. With glasses on, the earcups are comfortable to wear. There is no pressure or discomfort from the soft headband. The headband’s leatherette fabric also has a high-end feel about it. When I lean forward, the Kraken V3 slips a bit more easily. Additionally, since the ear cups are fixed and cannot be moved left or right, sound isolation may be compromised if they do not correctly fit your ears.
You’ll find a mute button and a volume slider on the rear of the left headphone. The slider’s resistance prevents accidental volume changes, which is a big plus. Because the wheel has ridges, I never mistakenly move the slider when adjusting the headset. When not in use, or if you’d instead utilize a specialized gaming mic, the mic detaches from the left ear cup.
Using the Razer Synapse
You can personalize your headset with Razer Synapse 3, a Windows 10 program not yet available for macOS. Using Razer Chroma, you may keep all of the LEDs on the earcups the same color, cycle over the rainbow, or have them fade in and out of color over time. The possibilities are almost limitless, just as with the LG XBOOM 360.
You can tweak EQ and surround sound settings for a personalized listening experience, but it requires THX Spatial Audio, which enhances the immersion of video games.
How good is the Razer Kraken V3 for gaming?
Playing games is a breeze with the Razer Kraken V3. Gunshots and explosions are audible but not overbearing, thanks to the increased bass response. When I play CS: GO, the loudest part of the game is the gunfire from heavy firearms, but I can still hear everything around me. In the same way, bombs detonate with precisely the proper amount of reverberation, creating a more immersive gaming experience.

Synapse’s THX Spatial Audio feature makes directed sounds considerably more audible, and specific spaces even have a genuine echo feel. THX Competitive mode makes all sounds reverberant and even dramatic. On the other hand, THX Environmental mode seeks to replicate the way humans hear sound in the actual world without a headset. As long as you don’t mind a little muted sound coming from the headphones, it’s okay. If you’re playing a multiplayer game and want to hear your friends clearly, you’ll like this feature since it enhances their voices.
Ear cushions and ear cups for the Razer Kraken V3
Despite the lack of THX spatial audio choices on the Nintendo Switch, the game’s surrounding noises are crystal clear, and I have a strong feeling of direction when playing. Be aware that the Kraken V3 can only be used with the docked Switch, or a USB-C to USB-A adapter may be used with the Switch Lite. However, even after plugging it into a computer and checking that the headset’s LEDs are on, I still cannot get it to connect to my Switch when using a dongle. While it’s a minor inconvenience, it’s not the worst solution.
Razer Kraken V3’s connection is explained here
Because it’s a wired USB gaming headset, the Kraken V3’s functionality is severely constrained. Those who wish to do more than play video games at their offices will be disappointed with this headset.
In terms of soundproofing, how well does the Razer Kraken V3 perform?
A minor improvement in high-frequency isolation is achieved at the expense of a reduction in blockage of lower frequencies.
Although the Razer Kraken V3 has above-average noise isolation, the EPOS H3PRO Hybrid is the best gaming headset for reducing background noise. A noisy vehicle outside your home will be audible via the headset, but the higher frequencies are effectively blocked. Headsets may reduce the sound quality of any frequency over 1 kHz by one-quarter to one-eighth of what it would be without the headset on.
Consider also the Razer Kraken X
As long as I’m listening to music at a fair intensity, I’m unable to hear anything except the loudest noises, such as a phone falling or a person shouting, while I’m not listening to music. When you’re wearing the Kraken V3, you’ll be able to hear whether the fire alarm goes off or someone is calling for your attention.
Sound system of the Razer Kraken V3
The sound of the Razer Kraken V3 is rather impressive. According to the headset’s frequency response chart, bass frequencies are increased, typical for gaming headsets, and higher frequencies are less apparent than we desire. The headset’s realistic audio reproduction makes gaming and listening to music more pleasurable. A bass boost is available in the Synapse program for when a little more kick is all that’s needed.
It’s fun to listen to the bass boosted by the headset, and it doesn’t overshadow anything else in the song, such as the higher frequency shakers and snares or the guitar strumming at the beginning. Gaming becomes more vivid because of the headset’s focus on bass, making gunfire and explosions stand out but not overpowering.
If you like hyper pop music, the bass bump in Charli XCX’s Vroom Vroom sounds good to me. Charli’s voice and the thrilling percussion and low-pitched synth are audible. The focus on the bass is still there, but it doesn’t detract from the song significantly; instead, it makes me want to dance even more.
Microphone feature of the Razer Kraken V3
This headset has an excellent microphone. There are no veiled frequencies or noises in any of the speech. It allows for background noise to be heard, yet it does not silence speech. A Hyperclear Cardioid microphone on the Razer Kraken V3 isolates your speech in front of the mic and suppresses part of the surrounding noise.
Toggle on or off ambient noise reduction, speech clarity, and voice normalization in Synapse’s microphone settings. Presets and sliders may be used to customize the sound of the microphone’s equalization.
Is the Razer Kraken V3 worth your money?
The Razer Kraken V3 is excellent for a gaming headset if you want to use it for PC gaming. The price tag is a terrific value as a headset with spatial sound, LEDs, and a robust microphone. The Razer Kraken X is an attractive choice if you don’t want to spend $100 on a gaming headset but still want the comfort and style of a Razer headset. At a fraction of the cost of the Kraken V3, it lacks LEDs but makes up for it with multichannel sound and user-friendly settings on the headset. SteelSeries Arctis 1 Wireless is a good choice for those who seek a wireless headset at a comparable price. Although it lacks surround sound, this pick’s audio quality is excellent, and it comes with an RF dongle for low-latency wireless gaming.
